Fender Mustang Vintage 1966 - Olympic White
We are proud to offer for sale an exceptional example of a 1965 Pre CBS custom colour Fender Jazzmaster, retaining a high degree of originality across all components! This example is finished in the timeless custom colour candy apple red with the matching headstock. Pre CBS custom colour Fender’s are now incredibly rare to find, especially with original parts and finish and no overspray, and prices for these examples have been skyrocketing over the last 10 years. The serial number for this guitar is 28570 and the guitar sports a body date of 6-58 and a neck date of 8-58.
The maple neck is in great shape, and has been nicely worn in over the 61 years of playwear resulting in the visible discoloration to the finish on the back of the neck. It does feel great though; smooth, silky and incredibly easy to play. The frets have been replaced which is very common on guitars of this age and results in a player's dream as well as a great piece for collectors. The neck grip is good and has the classic mid 60s ‘C’ profile (Fender’s B neck with nut width 1 5/8”). Neck measurements are 21.0mm at the first fret and 25.2mm at the 12th fret.
Electrics wise, the guitar is 100% original with untouched solder joints, 2 original gray bobbin pickups and pot codes reading 304825 (25th week of 1958). The three way selector switch and capacitor are also original and untouched. Photos of internal cavities and indeed in person inspection are available upon request. The single line kluson-deluxe tuners as well as the saddles both have the correct patent numbers. The pickguard and plastics are well kept, with little shrinking and only a few cracks.
The guitar also comes with the original hard case and tremolo arm included which makes it stand out from other examples which have replaced cases. This guitar is a great player and also a great investment piece as prices for vintage guitars of this era have skyrocketed in recent years.
